Sailing from Marina La Paz to the islands in the Sea of Cortés offers some of the best cruising routes along the Baja coast, with reliable thermal winds, pleasant temperatures, and a great mix of short hops between islands and longer passages. Rocky cliffs and sandy beaches alternate with remote desert shorelines dotted with cardón cactus and scrub, while the clear waters of the Sea of Cortés invite exploration. Famous islands such as Espíritu Santo and Partida draw visitors with protected beaches and swim-friendly coves, and places like Isla Ángel de la Guarda and the islets of the Espíritu Santo Archipelago showcase unique rock formations and bays.

The Gulf’s vibrant marine life — manta rays, seasonal whale sharks, dolphins, sea lions, and schools of fish — makes the area a paradise for diving and snorkeling, attracting water-sport enthusiasts from around the world.

Each day we cast off lines or weigh anchor, hoist sails, and head toward the next adventure. Afternoons can be spent sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling among reefs and kelp gardens. At sunset the crew prepares dinner aboard, and the flotilla gathers for social evenings. You’ll meet fellow sailors along the way who share a love of exploration and camaraderie in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. No prior sailing experience is required.

Where

The flotilla will explore the stunning cruising grounds of the Sea of Cortés along Mexico’s Baja coast! Our sail will include stops at several remote anchorages offering the best of the area’s sights.  Please note the sailing itinerary is subject to change right up to and during the sail based on weather and sea conditions.

When

Our sailing adventure begins February 20th, 2027 and lasts for one week. You'll spend seven nights aboard your vessel (Saturday to Saturday). A hotel stay either side of the sail is optional should you wish to start your adventure early or continue exploring the Baja peninsula after we return the boats.

Travel

We begin our sail at Marina Costa Baja, located 30 mins from La Paz International Airport (LAP). Most flights will require a connection in Mexico City before arriving in La Paz. All crew must schedule travel to ensure being on-sight at the marina by the morning of February 20th, 2027. Most crews arrive the day before to take the stress out of their travel

ASA Training

We are pleased to offer those wishing to further their sailing education a fantastic opportunity to attain certification to the America Sailing standard for Coastal Cruising (ASA 103), Bareboat Chartering (ASA 104) and Cruising Catamaran (ASA 114). You may sign up for one of the three courses offered or combine the 103 and 104 courses, or the 104 and 114 courses. The practical element of the course will be taught during the week we are sailing, while at the same time allowing you to enjoy the thrills and camaraderie of the flotilla. Your ASA affiliated instructor is deeply knowledgeable and holds all applicable ASA Instructor qualifications. ASA training is an additional cost to the berth fee and varies by course or combination of courses. Indicate when you register for the flotilla which courses you wish to take and we will respond with guidance on the fees involved.
