Tier 3 Boat Participation Fee

DC Sailing Community welcomes third party vessels to join our flotillas, either chartered or owned. A qualified sailor may wish to charter their own vessel from a charter company other than DC Sailing Community’s charter partner, but still wish to take advantage of the planning and organization that we put into curating a flotilla sailing itinerary and associated events. Similarly a boat owner may wish to join a DC Sailing Community flotilla on their own boat with guests invited at their discretion. DC Sailing Community does not have any part in the contract agreement for a third party chartered vessel, or for deciding how charter costs are shared by or collected from the crew.  The lead charterer for such a vessel is solely responsible for assuming all risks associated with their choice of charter company and vessel. DC Sailing Community is not responsible for any damage or injury resulting from the charter of such a vessel. All third party vessels, chartered or owned, will pay a flat rate Flotilla Participation Fee of $1555 to join a DC Sailing Community flotilla

Terms of Payment

DC Sailing Community reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to limit the number of third-party and owner operated boats that can participate, and to approve any and all participating boats. Third-party and owner operated boats and their participants participate at their own risk. DC Sailing Community is not liable for any changes to itinerary or cancellations, injuries, or other harm to persons or property. DC Sailing Community reserves the right to require participants on third-party and owner operated boats to complete a waiver and release (as is completed by all flotilla participants) as a condition to participation. This participation fee is non-refundable.

Any disagreements between crew members about shared costs—such as food, fuel, transportation, or any expenses beyond the participation fee paid to DC Sailing Community —must be resolved directly between the crew members involved. DC Sailing Community is not responsible for settling these disputes and will not get involved in any related discussions. By participating in a Cruising Adventure, all crew members agree to hold DC Sailing Community harmless from any unpaid or unresolved financial obligations between crew members.
