2026 BVI Flotilla

This coming winter 2026 we are organizing an incredible week of sailing in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for DC Sailing Community members and their guests. It promises to be one of the greatest vacations of your life! We go in the deepest and darkest part of the winter when we really need the warmth and sunshine of the Caribbean.

The flotilla takes place in the BVI, February 21st – February 28th, 2026. These waters are considered the cruising capital of the world, with consistent trade winds and warm temperatures all winter. The islands dotting the BVI are close enough that it is just a few hours to sail from one anchorage to another. Each of the locations we will visit is extremely welcoming.

Participants in the flotilla hop on planes and fly to the BVI, or via a flight to the USVI and ferry from there to the BVI . Then we board the boats, chartered from The Moorings and Sunsail who have an excellent reputation for their quality and service.

In the mornings we raise our anchors or cast off a mooring, hoist the sails and head off to a new destination. Then we spend the afternoon blissfully relaxing... sunbathing, snorkeling, visiting world famous beach bars, diving, exploring the anchorage, reading a book - there are lots of options! During the evenings crews may cook dinner aboard or eat ashore, and the flotilla gathers for parties. You will meet lots of fun people, sail and swim every day and have an incredible voyage of discovery. Every boat will fly a burgee with the fun team name the skipper and crew pick for their boat.

Prior to the trip we will arrange a happy hour, hosted by the BVI Tourism Board right here in DC, for crews to meet and share in the excitement and anticipation of the adventure to come.

Last updated 07/18/2024. There are no restrictions related to Covid-19 for entering the BVI or returning to the United States. You do not need to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19, and there are no health screening procedures in place upon arrival in either country. However we respectfully ask that all flotilla participants take sensible precautions to avoid exposure to Covid-19 during the weeks leading up to the flotilla. You are strongly encouraged to stay up-to-date with new vaccines/boosters as they become available.

If you exhibit any symptoms of Covid-19 or other contagious infection immediately prior to your scheduled travel date please do not travel. You are putting the entire flotilla fleet at risk if you travel while sick. You are advised to take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover any circumstances that may result in you not traveling to participate in the flotilla. DC Sailing Community does not provide or recommend travel insurance.

The links at the top of the page provide detailed guidance to help you enjoy a safe and fun sailing flotilla. The charter guide provided on the Itinerary page provides much more detail specific to sailing the Exumas. Between that guide and these pages you should have all your questions answered, however don’t hesitate to ask your Skipper if you can’t find the answers you seek.
