Provisioning

  • Generally each boat will provision for all breakfasts, most lunches and three dinners to be prepared and eaten on board – refer to the itinerary for the planned onshore schedule.

    • This is not a hard and fast rule, you’ll find on occasion that you might grab an extra lunch or dinner ashore

  • Pre-ordered provisioning through The Moorings is not an option in La Paz, however, there are plenty of local options to support you upon arrival. You can visit one of the larger supermarkets in town, the closest one is only 10kms away and has a wide selection of fresh produce. And there is a mini-market right in the marina for any last minute items or things you may have forgotten from the grocery store in town.

    • Walmart is much the same as you are used to in the US, a very large store with plenty of options for provisioning for the week

    • Soriana Hiper is another very large hypermarket with a wide selection of groceries and beverages

    • Super Chedraui has multiple locations across town with a wide selection of groceries.

  • Leftover non-perishables will be gladly taken off your hands by a neighboring boat that is departing as you arrive back to base, or by the dock hands and boat cleaning staff at the marina. It’s a great way to tip them for their amazing work!

  • Leftover drinks will also be gladly accepted by the marina staff. You will work out with your skipper an appropriate level of alcohol for the week depending on everybody’s preference for wine, beer, spirits, mixers and soft drinks.

  • You may bring small items that will contribute to cooking tasty meals, such as specific dried herbs, oils, etc. – discuss with your crew mates and skipper when agreeing on provisions.  Remember, any items you bring will need to be small and unopened. Fruits and vegetables are not permitted to be brought into Mexico.

  • Make sure you let your skipper know of any food allergies or dietary needs.

  • Feel free to add or purchase separately any items that you specifically need or will make the week more enjoyable for you.

  • Duty free is a good way to grab a few bottles of any drinks you can’t find on provisioning lists.
